About

Our Vision
Finding new ways to connect the dots between data and knowledge on climate mobilities. The CliMoHub is a digital space helping to make sense of the complex interplay between the environment and human (im)mobilities.
What We Offer
We provide community service by screening and compiling relevant datasets, literature, case studies and analyses. The CliMoHub provides open-access knowledge to support researchers, practitioners and decision makers.
Who We Work With
We collaborate across borders and disciplines. From universities to grassroots researchers—CliMoHub thrives through partnerships and the community. If you want to collaborate reach out to us below ↓
Our Approach
Open, integrative, and interdisciplinary. The Climate Mobilities Hub connects the dots between data and knowledge to real-world challenges at the intersection of environmental change and human (im)mobility.
Contribute
Share and publish your knowledge, shape what we build. Submit datasets, publications, or analysis highlights on climate mobilities (blogs, visualisations, working papers, creative ideas etc.).
What is Next
Beta launch of the Climate Mobilities Hub: July 2025. We’re building toward a smarter, more connected CliMoHub—with GeoAI, knowledge graphs, and new community-driven services. Follow us on social media to stay tuned!
People behind the CliMoHub
Co-Founders:

Prof. Dr. Patrick Sakdapolrak
Co-Founder & Head
Patrick Sakdapolrak is Professor of Population Geography and Demography and head of the Trans|Form Working Group Population | Environment | Development at the University of Vienna. He developed the vision for the Climate Mobilities Hub together with his team. As head of the Climate Mobilities hub, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the knowledge hub’s focus and conceptualisation.

Dr. Simon Bunchuay-Peth
Co-Founder & Lead Developer
Simon A. Bunchuay-Peth is a social and human geographer with extensive expertise in climate mobilities, social adaptation, and translocal social resilience in the Global South. As lead developer of the Climate Mobilities Hub (CliMoHub), he combines his passion for science communication and empirical experience with mixed-methods research including participatory and visual approaches to address migration, inequality, and rural–urban dynamics—grounded in long-term fieldwork across South and Southeast Asia (Bangladesh, Thailand, Singapore) and East Africa (Ethiopia).

Dr. Marion Borderon
Co-Founder & Conceptual Dev.
Marion Borderon is a human geographer specializing in population dynamics, migration, and vulnerability to environmental and climate change, with extensive expertise in spatial analysis. A core contributor to the conceptual foundations of the Climate Mobilities Hub, she applies mixed-methods research to explore social vulnerability, environmental change, and mobility, and has worked in various settings across Sub-Saharan and North Africa (Senegal, Congo, Ethiopia, Mauritania, Algeria) and South Asia (India), contributing to interdisciplinary perspectives on climate mobilities and adaptation.

Dr. Harald Sterly
Co-Founder & Conceptual Dev.
Harald Sterly is a human geographer and Senior Scientist at the University of Vienna whose work on climate mobilities bridges migration, vulnerability, and rural–urban transformations. His research draws on translocality, relational sociology, and digitalization to explore how climate and environmental change shape mobile livelihoods, with empirical focus in South and Southeast Asia (Bangladesh, Thailand) and East Africa (Kenya, Somalia), and contributions to IOM-led efforts streamlining climate mobilities into National Adaptation Plans.
